Striving For The Mastery
Corinthians 9:25 (King James Version) "And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible." The Lord gave me this scripture one day when I was praying about my health. As women, many of our health issues stem from poor eating habits, poor sleeping habits, stress, and lack of education about health issues. I am convinced that there is a need in the body of Christ for a better focus on temperance in ALL things. If we are honest, we must admit that though the church is quick to condemn drug and alcohol use, we have a long way to go in equally condemning gluttony. Many of us feel entitled to our fried chicken and pound cake, because we avoid most other vices. Saints, lack of temperance in ALL things is killing us. High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, High Cholesterol, Heart Problems, Kidney Problems, Cancer, Female problems, many of these things stem from poor eating habits, poor sleeping habits, stress, and lack of education. (Yes, I am repeating myself) We have a long way to go on this issue. Let's share with each other on this topic. Lets encourage one another. Too many people love us, too many people need us in their lives for us to ignore our health. We must strive for optimal health, we must strive for the mastery if we are to live victorious lives! The Bible says: 3 John 1:2 (King James Version) "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." God wants us healthy. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost. We need to be vessels unto honor. In mid 2007 I was asked to speak on the topic "Vessels Unto Honor And Love". I spoke about taking care of our vessels - mind, body and spirit. To view the handout I gave out that day click HERE To go to the forum to discuss this topic click HERE. |
